Steelers Ball Hockey Club returned to the Tier 3 C

Steelers Ball Hockey Club returned to the Tier 3 Central Conference with an emphatic 9v3 win over the current league leaders, Nottingham Hyenas

Steelers won the first period 3-1 with goals from Cooper, Bolger and Harper

More of the same from the team in the second period with 4 unanswered goals stretching the lead to 7-1. Packwood and Reynolds each getting 2 goals apiece

Hyenas fought back early in the third period and scored on the powerplay after Reynolds was serving the first Steelers 2min of the season for a hooking penalty and scored another with a great breakaway from Baker.

In the end though the comeback was too little too late as Steelers scored a further two goals of their own through Packwood and Slack to seal the 9-3 victory.

Steelers went up against the Leeds Rams in an end

Steelers went up against the Leeds Rams in an end to end pre-season battle at Bench Buddy late last night.

The game went back and forth with the Steelers eventually coming out 7-6 winners .

Well done to Dawn Reynolds who picked up the player of the game award after picking up an assist on her ball hockey debut

Fancy playing ball hockey? What is ball hockey?

Ball hockey is similar to ice hockey but although there is contact it is a non-checking version of ice hockey where we wear trainers and run rather than skating on ice

After a few seasons away the Steelers are back and playing in Tier 3 of the Central Conference. We have a mixture of experienced and beginner players with both male and females in the team. Our season starts in@a few weeks and we are wanting to finalise our squad ahead of the new season

We train on Fridays 7-8.30pm at Handsworth Grange Community Sports College and league games start in September

Last night we debuted our new home kit in a friendly game against the Sheffield Knights.

All the players loved the new fit and material and can’t wait to try out the away kit in a couple of weeks
